Cape Cod: Exploring a Sense of Place

 

My name is Janet Cassidy. I am a graduate student in the Master of Arts in Liberal Studies (MALS) program at SUNY Empire State College. While my primary focus is the Sacred Landscape of Ireland, an important component of my degree plan is a study of Identity and Sense of Place. My research examines how geography, history, and culture shape a sense of place, and how a particular place influences the people who call it home. Because I have recently moved to Cape Cod, Massachusetts, I have chosen to focus on the Cape for the purposes of this course. My writing on this site reflects my impressions of my new home place as informed by my reading and explorations.
